Pros: Fantastic graphics, incredibly deep story with deep decision making, and great DRM free Dev's!

Cons: Nothing but a few UI things they could improve on. Nothing I would consider a big flaw.

I think the thing that impressed me most about Witcher 2 was that it was one of the first RPG's that I felt like catered to intelligent adults. Not just its adult theme's, but the decision making and how it affects the story in a way that you can't entirely predict. This makes you really question the choices you make, because you don't know if it will result the way you'd like it to. Not only that but unlike most RPG's today the choices you made were not clearly evil, or clearly good. Hard choices to make, something you don't run into in games often.

The first thing you'll notice if you have a nice rig is how beautiful this game is. Not only the art, but the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. So much attention to detail in the landscapes, people, and world. The game is as deep as it is gorgeous too, so it's not all looks smile.gif.

The game play is fun, and a bit of a mix of different things. It does have QTE events but personally I thought they worked great and I enjoyed them. I've never really disliked them though smile.gif.

In another review of Fallout 3 I mentioned that FO3 was one of the two most impressive single player games in the last decade, Witcher 2 would be the other one that blew me away. A wonderful world, story, and a great game for anyone looking for an adult RPG. thumb.gif

Pros: Excellent cinematic presentation, great story, essentially has two campaigns, good voice acting and difficulty

Cons: Too linear like a console game (Uncharted/MGS anyone?), mechanics could be improved a bit, bad anti-aliasing

The Witcher 2 is one of the most talked about, and highly regarded RPGs in recent years (at least among PC gamers). It is an excellent single player adventure, filled with interesting and well-developed characters, a great story, and plenty of challenges within. This epic adventure should last you about 30 hours, but can easily be replayed since it essentially has two campaigns: which one you play depends on one vital decision made during the game.

Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of the first game, returns as the protagonist of The Witcher 2. I do recommend trying the first game, but it might be hard since the awful combat makes it virtually unplayable. But it's worth trying, since the character development in that game is quite necessary. Although you can import your save from the first game, it only affects one or two small things. It's nothing like a Bioware title; nothing creates characters THAT good, and this game is much lighter on RPG elements.

Regardless it is a great adventure, a must-have, and thankfully in its current state the combat is pretty good. Some strategy is required and I like the difficulty, though certain aspects of the game are oddly reminiscent of a bad console port: specifically how the object interaction key is the same as another vital key (my memory is a bit foggy, but you'll see when you play), how linear it is (invisible walls everywhere just like a console SP title), and the poor anti-aliasing. But hey, these issues are easy enough to look past. This game tends to be overrated around the forums, but I definitely recommend it.
