Photoshop's Best Friend
Pros: Perfect precision (no mouse can come close), Improves and accelerates your workflow, highly customisable
Cons: The stock pens that come with it do not last very long
I bought this tablet to improve my Photography post-processing. I do a lot of Capture NX and Photoshop CS5.5. The mouse I had could not give me the precision I wanted, especially for portrait retouching. Consequently, I needed something better. I looked at tablets and I chose the Intuos because it was praised everywhere. I was not disappointed. This tablet has given me the possibility to do subtle modifications without any sweat on my part. In addition, WACOM provides a rather interesting software that allows you to configure the buttons and make this act like a mouse if need be.
It took me a while to learn how to use it and I will be honest with you : the L is BIG! You cannot comprehend how big until you put it on your table. If you don't restrict the movement area, you need to do a lot of sports with your hand to cover the whole surface.
The function keys can be configured according to the software you use. For example, in Photoshop I add my shortcuts on the keys and in Capture NX I add other shortcuts. The ring acts as a zoom if you want too or it will rotate your image if you want.
I tried to use this in Windows Explorer and to browse the web and I must admit it was a pain in the beginning because I always clicked under or above the button I needed to use. Once you learn it is not that difficult to use it everywhere.
I gave it 4.5 / 5 because of the pens. The original WACOM pens do not last long. The tips are prone to fast wear and this leads to more pressure applied on the tablet. If you photoshop or draw , this is a must on your desk.
