Pros: Reliable and capable of running any game or operating system with respectable performance
Cons: not as fast as an ssd
I can definitely tell the difference while booting Windows from a high end SSD, but that is not what this review is about. I have ran windows on one of these drives and they do perform very well, but booting from a mechanical drive is becoming a thing of the past. I would recommend using your mechanical drives for storing your personal files, and holding software installations. I have ran games and other software from both SSDs and mechanical drives and while for most drives the difference is obvious, this one not so much. While maybe the more demanding games might benefit from running on a solid state, my eyes can't tell the difference. I have tested this with Skyrim, FarCry 3, Crysis 3, and Battlefield 3 and all results are the same. This drive runs and load games, content, and maps fast enough to put down the stop watch.
