A super fast, reliable hard drive - WD Caviar Black 2TB review
review by nfsdude0125
I'm back for another review!
This time, it's the WD Black 2TB desktop hard drive. The drive brand new cost me $179 from my supplier. Quite a large price, but I figure it's worth it.
Here's a picture of the device connected while transferring.
It's a very shiny HDD, and looks fairly nice. While transferring over 900GB of data (mostly, Steam, Origin and Uplay libraries) to the new drive, it was managing 120-130MB/s (megaBYTEs not megaBITs).
Loading games off the drive was exceedingly smooth and fast, and the drive under heavy load was very quiet compared to my Seagate 1.5TB drive.
Setup took less than a minute using Disk Management on Windows on SATA 3.
I highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for high performance storage without investing a ton of money on a large SSD.
Pros
Cons
Fairly silent operational noise, fast read/write speeds, SATA 6Gb/s
Isn't this a current-gen BLACK? Not a Caviar Black?
