Cheap 1 TB Solution

review by ryan w

So far so good, this 1TB was on sale form Newegg a ways back. Has 1 TB capacity, 7200 RPM, silent operation. A friend warned me of this drive after I purchased saying that it is a common dead drive. I have not run int any issues so far, and disk always comes back ok. Just in case though I do not have OS on this drive.

ProsCons
cheap, 1TB capactiy, 7200 RPMWD history of spinup failure

Cheap 1TB drive

review by gorbazthedragon

I bought a few of these for various builds I was doing for friends/family, they seem like pretty reliable drives and none of them have had any issues yet. Also, they are some of the cheapest drives on the market, the prices are consistently among the lowest of the 1tb drives.

There is quite a significant vibration though, most of these drives can be felt through the outside of the case they are in, which in some cases could generate noise.

ProsCons
Price usually low, pretty quiet, hasn't stopped working yet...Quite a bit of vibration.

Cheap 1TB drive

review by gorbazthedragon
I have purchased quite a few of these Western Digital Blue hard drives over the years, the only time I hear any noises out of them is whenever I change the position the hard drive was laying/standing in.
