Title
YAMAKASI New CATLEAP Q271 HDMI 1.4a 2560X1440 27" LED LG S-IPS Speaker Monitor
Now, I am no expert on monitors or review writing. I felt I should post a review for this product because of the overwhelming lack of reviews for this particular panel. I figured I should share with everyone since purchasing a Q271 is an expensive choice to make. Basically from what I know the Q271 is a slight upgrade from the Q270 that was released mid 2012. Apparently this monitor does not come with a "2B" PCB and therefore cannot be overclocked to run at a higher refresh rate. It does out of the box (at least from Green-sum on eBay) come rather well lit, calibrated, and with minimal issues. The monitor comes with a Dual link DVI cable, male to male 3.5mm audio cable, International Power cable (with an American adapter), and a large power brick that terminates with a 4-pin DIN plug. Odds are if you pick this monitor up on eBay it will ship in its original box, wrapped in bubble wrap. Shipping from Korea can be a bear; I had issues with my monitor being shipped via DHL. DHL had my package "On truck for delivery" for three days. Once I received the monitor and opened the box, the whole monitor comes covered in protective plastic which is great. I bought the Perfect Pixel model of this monitor and upon hooking it up it only has one STUCK not DEAD pixel on the left hand side of the screen that I really only notice when there is a black background. Other than that the color accuracy, brightness, contrast, gamma, and resolution are all extremely impressive. The multiple inputs offered also do not seem to cause any problems with latency and are a nice added feature. The monitor supports a Dual link DVI Port at 2560x1440, and HDMI 1.4 Port also supporting 2560x1440, and a D-Sub (Honestly I have no idea what VGA can push). I would have liked to see Display-port but since the HDMI and DVI ports can support the high resolution that should alleviate the need for Display-port. Most people seem to have had many issues with the stand on the Q270, mainly it being too wobbly. They have fixed that this go around, the stand is robust and features tilt. The only thing I would have liked to see on the stand is a height adjust, mainly because we are in a premium line of monitors and are paying the heightened price point. The monitor has a large bezel so it would not be good at all for multi-monitor setups but works perfectly for a single monitor. I do suggest that you spring for the Perfect Pixel model with Tempered Glass, also just to be certain it is a good idea to pickup an extended warranty like something from SquareTrade if you can. The price of these monitors seems to fluctuate a good bit but I paid about 360$ for mine and I added a warranty that pulled it to 429$. All in all this monitor really impressed me considering the negative things I have seen about other models and brands of Korean A- monitors. Feel free to ask me questions, I am sure I left out something so thanks for reading!
