The card is recommend if you are running RAID0 with 4+ HDD, RAID5, or if you want the better performance.

With the BBU, your data is safer than if you had a UPS.
Well i bought one of these guys. I will report how it works with the pin mod and the P5W DH Deluxe. There are post saying it doesn't work on the board but no one has tried the pin mod. I could probably do some benchies with 8 drives if people are interested. Although i don't know if i could do it with higher end drives.
What cable do i need to buy. Only one i see on newegg is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812226021
Will that work for me?

What is the difference between numbers on these cards or are the pretty much all created equal?

Its been like 2 weeks that I've been messing around with this card and I STILL can't get it to flash. Hell, I can't even get the Dell drivers installed.

DuckieHo, did you flash yours from XP or Vista?

Vista.

Same issue? Have you tried the DOS flash method?

I didn't bother with the Dell drivers. Vista automatically recognized the card and I just used the LSI 8480e drivers.

Just use a bootable USB drive?
