Oh-uh, it's a sign of faulty controller, actually. 99% sure.

Btw, what does controller's firmware say when you boot your PC?

This is not verbatim, but it goes something lile: "Programmable RAID controller something or another copyright blah blah blah.....detecting hard drives....battery pack not installed so you might lose data....detected drives: none".

In other words, no errors other than the missing battery. You really think its faulty? I'll have to pick up a PCI graphics card and open up the PCIe slot on another computer to try it.

Ok well I tried it on a different computer (AMD w/ nForce 570) and it worked flawlessly. Flashed it and everything.

But back in my computer it still gives the same error

hawt.

The PCIe pins didn't cut through the nail polish? (It happend to me once and system wouldn't boot).

I don't know what else to suggest. I am running a X38 fine with it. Intel's reference must have some other funkiness to it....

Nope the polish is still solid.

And yeah thats pretty weird. Maybe a BIOS update will fix it.

Edit: Can you do me a favor, check in your device manager if you have a PCI->ISA bridge (or anything else ISA)??

Just letting everyone know i got the card installed via the tape method. I have to make the mount for it but i will dig around for some cards that i can jack the metal piece from at work tomorrow. I flashed the card to the newest 8480 lsi firmware and got everything installed like a champ. I dont have the cables yet as i just wanted to see if the card even worked before i bought them. As soon as i get the cables in i will do some benchies with up to 8 drives. They wont be the fastest in the world maybe 60 - 70 MB/s drives but better then nothing

I believe there were two PCI -> PCIe bridges. I have to go check at home...

Look a the chip to the left of the ARM processor. That is the bridge chip... could you give me the model number?
