Ok, so I tried to update the firmware to the latest Dell firmware, says it is not compatible with my system. I was going to do the LSI flash, but the link just points to the driver page and not the flash utility. So right now I have a card that will not start, so any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,

Here is more info about Port Multipliers and how they work: http://www.sata-io.org/portmultiplier.asp And the question is: does PERC 5/i support "Command-based switching" or "FIS–based switching" or none of them ? thanks

I just got my PERC 6/i installed in a 780i reference mobo.
The card POSTs and I can get into the config screen. However, the card won't recognize any attached hard drives. I swap it with a PERC 5/i and it see the disks so that means the HDs and cables are good. What to do next?

Does anyone have any issues with the 5/i initializing from a reboot. It seems that upon a reboot, the PERC card is not recognized, but if I shutdown then power up the card is noticed right away. It really is that simple, reboot then no boot, shutdown... good to go
