Without forced airflow or a bigger heatsink, it gets very hot in a few minutes.

Hey Duckie, what firmware and software to manage the PERC6/I? Does LSI have an equivalent card?

The LSI SAS 8708ELP and 8888ELP use the same processor. However, they run 128MB and 512MB respectively.

I got an error today, which said something to the effect : "multibit ECC errors were detected on the RAID controller. The DIMM on the controller needs replacement. Please contact technical support....if you continue, data corruption may occur.
__________________Press X to continue or power off replace the module and reboot. If you have replaced the module, press X to continue." Does this really mean that the DIMM is gone bad or could it be temporary? The DIMM can take a week to get here. My question: Should I continue? Also, how should I test the old and the new DIMM?

Sounds like something's wrong, but I'd try re-seating it first off... ram will often come right with a few remove-reinstalls. As for running without it... it's a risk, but one which I'd say is pretty small... Thanks

Just use the latest Dell Firmware for the card and the LSI MegaRAID manager, works perfectly.
