The original inquiry was about the RHEL drivers, but the Dell support person confirms that the CARD doesn't support SATA drives.

Quick question about the memory, will it except a 1gb ram module and only read 512mb? Or will it not even read the 1Gb module at all?

Pretty sure it only takes a max of 512. The 1GB stick will be unrecognized.

Considering the cheapness of a new DIMM i would just get a new one. I wouldn't continue if I were you, as a bad ECC most likely will result in corrupt data. If you encounter the same error, then you know its something wrong with the card. I am betting its something wrong with the ECC module on your RAM though. Isnt there another place you could pick up a stick locally?

http://www.supermicro.com/products/a...ck/CSE-M14.cfm it has one SAS connector in the back of it, so you just need a SAS to SAS cable to connect from the Perc5/i to the back of the rack. I've got 4 Core2 SSDs in mine... I removed the fan from the back of the SuperMicro rack (its a 40mm screamer of a fan, and SSDs dont need hardly any cooling at all), and changed the jumper so the "fan broken" buzzer doesn't sound.
