Can it be overheating? or is it broken?
I have the latest firmware (i think)
The computer dies on load... it survives if just idle...

The computers got eleven 120cm fans...(on 5v)
But the perc has only stock cooling.

If you guys thinks its overheating. where can i buy active cooling?

Hope someone can help me.
Is the card running the latest Dell firmware or the latest LSI firmware?

Is the recommend for this card(PERC5) around 7s?
Yes, you can enable it on WD10EADS - I've done so on mine for 7 seconds read and write. I'm reasonably sure you can do so on WD10EACS as well. Being able to easily enable TLER on cheap desktop hard drives is one of my primary reasons for preferring WD hard drives.

I don't think the utility will detect hard drives connected to the PERC, so you'll probably have to hook up the hard drives to a desktop controller to set TLER.

What is the difference between Perc 5/i and Perc 6/i when talking about power consumption? Perc 6/i is much slower than 5/i?

Does anybody have any experience of getting the Perc to run with this motherboard?

Thanks in advance.
For anybody who's interested I reluctantly bought a Perc 5/i and to my surprise found that it worked flawlessly on my HP ML 115 G5. I've not connected any drives to the controller as I'm still waiting for my cable.

ESX 3i found the controller without any problems...

I brought my card 2nd hand, and I think it has the .66 EDIT: got the 64, LSI firmware on there.

Vista x64 detected it and installed the drivers automatically and seemed to work fine. I was just testing the card as it was going into a W2K3 box afterwards.

On another note, will these cables work with SATA drives and the PERC? I got 2 of them for 15AUD. However they are deadly short and a in a full tower i can only use the white channel into the 5.25" bays.

Those look like they should work.....just make sure that they're not cables that are made for a backplane. If you want some long ones check these out. They're plenty long for my setup. I have my Perc in the bottom of my full tower TT Armor and my hard drives at the very top......
