O and also is there by any chance a place i can get a perc 6i? Considering that ebay doesnt really have that many of them (or am i searching for them under the wrong name)? Tnx |

I got my 6/i on a sale here, from borito4. The best way to get these cards remains secondhand, since they cost upwards of 4-500 dollars new.

Just a note... the IHS is attached only to the chip. It is NOT attached to the packaging along the edges like AMD or Intel CPUs. Be careful not to remove or break the IHS since it will probably damage the chip.

Indeed. This would make it extremely difficult to remove the heatsink if you wanted to change/replace it, without using a heat gun to melt the adhesive. But I wouldnt worry about the weight of the heatsink you intend to add cracking the IHS off because it is most likely soldered on.

Well, I have given up on this adventure since my Blood Rage will not work with card with the current Bios. I am hoping I can sell the cards and SAS drives quickly either here or on Hardforum. If anyone is looking for a 5i PM me or look for my "for sale" thread. Thanks to everyone that tried to help me in this adventure.

I flashed my card back to the latest (I think) Dell BIOS. Now when I run HDTune I am getting much less performance than when I had the LSI firmware.
Any idea what might be? AFAIK there isn't much disk I/O going on, and I'm peaking at 300MB/s with large fluctuations.

Its an "issue" with the Dell firmware. Whilst my overall performance was better with LSI, the Dell had a nice smooth stable graph.
