That cable does look like the one you need. Can't really confirm it though, but I am not aware of any other pinouts that would use connectors like that (especially for a Dell server), so you should be good to go.

Never actually seen another cable like that so it would seem to be your only option. All the SAS cables I have use standard 'molex-type' peripheral connectors.

To increase the capacity of a virtual disk, follow these steps:

Click the Logical View tab in the left panel.
Right-click on a virtual disk icon and select Advanced Operations >> Reconstruction Wizard.
The Reconstruction Wizard window appears.
Click Add Drive.
In the top panel of the next screen, select the disk drives that you want to add to the virtual disk and click the down-arrow button to add them. If you change your mind, click the up-arrow button to move a selected drive back to the top panel.
When you are finished adding disk drives, click Next to continue.
If desired, select a new RAID level from the drop-down menu in the lower right of the next screen. Review the displayed information for the newly expanded virtual disk.
Click Finish to accept the new configuration.
A Reconstruct operation begins on the virtual disk. You can monitor the progress of the reconstruction in the Group Show Progress window. To do this, select Group Operations >> Show Progress.

just expanded mine yesterday

anyone have an idea why the performance from 4 drives to 6 drives is almost identical

HD Tach is only benching the first 2TB?


If you're running RAID0 or RAID5 with 4xF1s, you should be getting closer to 350MB/s or 280MB/s respectively.

the first 2TB is still spread across all 6 drives
i would think it would bench faster

I'm about to RAID(0) 3 OCZ Vertex SSD's, should I use my onboard ICH10R, or would I get better performance with my PERC 6/i?

Also, if I go the PERC route, how do I update the FW when using a controller?

Can you confirm WB in the LSI MegaRAID console?

ICH10R maxes out around 650MB/s. The 6/i can do at least 1000MB/s (maybe more). The onboard cache will also help SSD performance.

So, will 3 Vertexes go over 650MB/s? I've read so many reviews/experiences, I can't remember if 3 of those drives will.

I meant the FW of the SSD's, not the PERC itself.

yep write back is definetly on
but that shouldn't matter since hdtune just does read

the cache io is set to direct IO
disk cache policy is enabled
