Hey I got my PERC 5/i a while ago but have yet to use it. I have an EVGA 680i T1. I also run Vista x64. I am always getting this error in the device manager. Error Code 10, the device cannot start.

To the extent of my knowledge, the card works fine. It boots up and I can get into its configuration and everything. It worked once or twice in Vista actually. But for some reason it doesn't want to start the driver. Does anyone else have this problem or maybe had this problem?

I wouldn't think I would have to use the pin mod on my 680i, but I wouldn't know. Also where can I find this pin mod at? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can try something like Everest or SANDRA to get a hardware report.

You can also run a HD benchmark and see if you are getting a bottleneck of 250MB/s (x1 PCIe 1.0 bandwidth). The HD curve should be downward sloping (make sure to have write-back cache enabled). If it is flat, there is a bottleneck.

SiSoftware's Sandra will tell you what speed each slot is capable of, and what it's currently linked at. :-D Sandra = Worth every pennie!

I know I'm gonna sound like a noob here, but I'm gonna go ahead and ask anyways.

I don't have an array yet, I am waiting a till black friday to buy 3 more 1TB drives, but until then I have 5 single drives. Everything is working, but I assume that I actually have to create virtual disks because I can't see single drives. Input? Thanks

-Bonz™

Edit: It wasn't the pin mod, because that didn't work. It was the BIOS. I had the P30 BIOS and apparently it doesn't play well. Everyone says only P28 works, but P33 works great too

I'd exchange it.

Man you don't have the luck with this card. I would definitely exchange it.
