IF you flash it with the LSI firmware you can use the LSI megaraid Storage Manager.

guys i need some help with settings...

idk what settings to put for RAID 0

IE theres adaptive read through, read write? which do i enabled?

Also, im going for a guess and say 128k would be the best general use stripe

Oh and for Vista 64 pre-install drivers - i check the box that says "show only drivers compatible with my hardware" and only 1 shows up, LSI Virtual Device

I uncheck the box and like 100 things pop up with different variations of the RAID card and configurations, including PCIe, SATA, SAS, etc
Im concerned that it didn't get the right drivers or enough, should i have checked all of them, or was just using the virtual device ok?

edit: Im in windows now and benching - im getting around 270 read with a STRAIGHT LINE across. Im rather confused here, does this mean I am stuck at PCIex1??

Hi,
Anyone uses dfi lanparty nf4 ultra d and obtain to work both pci express 8X?
Only solution seem to work in non sli mode at 1x for per in second slot and 16x vga in first pci-e slot or vice versa.
Seem all impossible ......

Sorry for bad english

Adaptive read, and write-back cache will both incresase performance.

Also, what program are you benching with? HDTune? Try adjusting the block size used to double what your stripe size is. So if its 128k stripes, use at least 256k blocks. See what result that comes up with.

How the heck do I do that?

HD Tune and HD Tach reported the same results capping out at about 280MBPS then at the last 80% of the test it slopes down like a "regular" test does.... I have a feeling its bottlenecked somewhere and Its really making me angry because 4 drives on this RAID card in RAID 0 should not be stuck at 280MBPS... I was expecting about 350+

Hi there,

just registered to say my 2 cents. Great help here.

Got my Perc 5i Friday and started to mess around with it.

At first I had some probs. But with help of the german forumdeluxx I worked them out. The pointed me here and I got it finally working.

Flashed the firmware to the LSI FW like said here. Works now like a charm.

I can confirm that the modded Perc5i works with my MSI P45 PLatinum and my MSI K9A Neo2 Digital (Bios 1,7). The last one is the board of my "storage server".

I installed 3 WD green 1TB drives as a raid 5 and copied my data to it. Firstly I got only 10MB write speed, but it turned out that my write setting were wrong. Now it runs perfect and I addes another 1 TB drive. For now it is working on the rebuild of the Raid 5. It started at 9 in the morning today and is still working. Think it will last till tomorrow.

Works´perfect. I love this thingie.
