What's your sector size? Are you 100% sure WB is enabled? Open the LSI Manager and check that it didn't disable itself.

Check the log at the bottom of the MegaRAID Manager. It will tell you if the drivers disable WB.

I think it mean WB enabled, the following log:

LOCALIZED MESSAGE = Controller ID: 0 Policy change on VD: 0 Previous = Current Write Policy: Write Through Current = Current Write Policy: Write Back

Very impressive this LSI manager

Thanks man!

hello

i have install the perc5 in my asus p6t deluxe and works fine

but, i have make some bench between the controler perc5 and the Ich10 with the same disk ( 4 * 500Go SAta seagate ). in Raid0 with 32k block size

I have best performance in READ with the ICH10 ( about 350Mb/sec for ich10 and 250Mb/sec for the perc5)

and a write benchmark i have best performance with the perc5.

Is it normal this difference in read test ?

For RAID0, read/write performance should be near linear.... is Adaptive Read Head enabled?

After I've installed winXP on the new setup everything seemed to work as it should but suddenly the problems start to show up... In the beginning I've seen the first "delayed write" message which means that something was wrong with my controller, then I found out that the controller was only initialized after booting from a normal shut down and was vanished after reboots...
I also bought a M3A79-T and Phenom II 940 and I am getting the same problems with my two Perc 5/ies - so it's not just you. I just got it today so I didn't get much chance to play around with it. The cards have the latest LSI firmware on it and I have not yet looked to see if there's an updated BIOS for the motherboard.

However, I have made progress when using a PCI videocard instead of a PCI-Express videocard. Now it at least shows the initialization of the cards at POST. However, it'll only initialize one card on reboot while it'll initialize both on cold startup. I initially though that these cards don't like other PCI-Express cards plugged in and I had an Intel PCI-Express x1 gigabit card in one of the other slots, however removing the card didn't change anything (which is a small relief since I really don't want to go without an Intel NIC on a file server).

Next time I'll try swapping the cards to different slots to see if I can get them to work properly. Of course, I still have to make a disk array with them; don't have any spare drives right now.
