thats weird. Not to stray too far OT, but my friend on another board has been having problems with his evga x58 and they haven't pulled through for him either. I thought that was the selling point of evga over asus, gigabyte etc: american company with local and quick tech support

I suspect they don't know. Not too many people run SAS RAID cards on enthusiast motherboards. (Though I wonder what kind of enthusiasts they are if they don't.)

Default Perc 5/i and HP ML 115 G5

Hello all,

The Perc 5/i's seem to have compatibility issues with certain motherboards, which has made me reluctant to buy one. However, I have recently bought two HP ML 115 G5 servers, based on the nVIDIA NFP3400 chipset. One is going to be used as my iscsi san and I would like to use raid with it.

Does anybody have any experience of getting the Perc to run with this motherboard?

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, im having problems with my perc 5. I just bought a perc 5/i controller with 256MB of memory with a BBU. Also bought 8x 1 TB Samsung F1 disks. But the scores that i get are very low in comparison to what others get.

Motherboard: Asus P5L-VM 1394
Settings raid array:
Raid 5
Always read ahead
Write back
Direct IO
Read Write

8 MB block

Is it that i only have 256MB of memory on the perc 5 or is it something else?

Your firmware is out of date. The newest one is 7.0.1-0064 (12/17/08): http://www.lsi.com/cm/License.do?url...ware&locale=EN
