Default Vista RAID drivers in 7?

I've got this Adaptec 1220SA. I used it fine in Vista but there are no Win7 drivers. Can I use the Vista drivers in Win7?

Typically, all Vista drivers can be used in Windows 7 whenever there are no Windows 7 drivers available. The only thing is that you might have to run it in Compatibility Mode for Vista (but not all the time). So, if you try to install it and get any kind of errors or problems, then that means the Compatibility Mode for Vista is required. So in that case, I would recommend uninstalling the drivers from the first attempt, and then re-installing them using Compatibility Mode.

If you're unsure how to select a Compatibility Mode, then here's how:
  1. Right-click on the installer.
  2. Choose Properties.
  3. Choose the Compatibility Mode tab.
  4. Click the checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
  5. Select the version of Vista that you had.
  6. Click OK, and run the installer.

Well, I'm actually referring to using the Vista drivers during the setup of Win7. I wanna run Win7 on a RAID 0. I want to know if that will work.

I don't know for sure nor do I know from experience, however it's my guess that it will work. But if it doesn't, then I guess I need to know something: what's the worst that could happen if it doesn't work?

LOL, I wipe and reload my system all the time. So, it won't bother me if it doesn't work.

I'm planning on doing this tomorrow, which is why I went asking this evening.

Thanks.

So, if it doesn't work, then does that mean you'll lose all of the data on the drives?

For me, yeah. Cause if it can't load the driver during setup, I'm still reloading my system any way. I've been planning on reloading any way, no particular reason, I do it for fun. And I keep all important data backed up to an external drive as habit all ready. Is no big deal for me.

hehe I'm the same way. I've been known to say, "sigh.. I'm bored. Ok, then time to reformat! That should kill a few hours."

I installed 7 on my RAID setup without any drivers *during install* - but I would want them loaded once the OS is installed. The Vista drivers should be fine, but have you asked the manufacturer?
