Will there be a significant difference running a RAID0 using two WD VelociRaptors (3.5-inch SATA Hard Drives300 GB, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 10,000 RPM)

It really depends on usage. I mean on non HDD intensive stuff less so? But yes there will be a difference faster is better.

Of course they'll be an increase in transfer rates and that will depend upon your controller but if you look at the HDTune spec thread Jimibgood has posted his results with (I believe) your drives. If you're using an Intel chipset your results may be a little faster but you can run a test on your single drive and decide for yourself if it fits your perception of 'significant'.

Honestly, I would not recommend anyone buys a V-Rap now.
If you need space for cheap but want it fast, buy a 1TB Samsung F3 and short-stroke it down as small as you can. If you want the fastest then buy an SSD. The day of the V-Rap has gone. It is just too expensive, and the performance is not nearly as good as its price tag would suggest when it is compared to the latest-gen mechanical disks or SSDs now the prices are beginning to come down. |

Well u will not see much different in windows but you will see increase in speed int hings like decompression of files, installing a game, transferring files, loading of games and some intense programs etc. Overall u can be without it but its a good boost.

Agree that RAID and/or raptors are probably not worth it at this point. SSD's are affordable, especially if you only use for OS/apps.
