Default Raid0 help and proformance issues.

I'm trying to setup a RAID0 on 2 Seagate 320GB hdd. I have the array setup in the BIOS. I'm using Windows 7 x64 and from what I gathered Windows 7 doesnt require any raid drivers.

My issue I'm having is that I'm not having the proformance that everyone else seems to get.

I avg 60 or 80 MB/sec on HDTUNE while my other drives that are the same but bigger in size are getting 120 avg MB/sec.

I'm using two of these.

Any ideas?

I tried short stroking it as well.

Your drives are a little old (2 generations), so you may be expecting a little much...

Post a screenshot of your benchmark - an isolated average figure really doesn't tell us much. Also let us know the stripe size you used. You also should install Matrix Storage Manager, and check the caching settings. The latest drivers can also enhance performance - they might not be needed, but that is not the same as saying they have no benefit.

I just deleted the array and installed windows on a single hdd. I'm getting the same read speeds. 80kb/sex Guess my drives are a little old. I'm downloading the MSM now.

Stripe size was 128kb.

Edit:

Shouldnt I at least get a little faster speeds instead of the same?

One of my 320

The other 320

I'm gonna setup the raid0 and post a screenshot. BRB

Heres the array of the 2 drives i posted above in a raid0

So a 10 mb/sec increase? Is this all right?

You have a controller bottleneck.

Install the Intel drivers and software, turn on write back caching then re-test.

.. look at the way the speed is flat across the first half of the drive. That is not the way a regular HD appears, it should be a gentle curve from beginning to end - look at many of the single drive HD Tune plots in the sticky at the top of the Hard Drives and Storage forum, i.e.:
