Default Short Stroking Worth It?

Hey
Ok today i set up my Raid 0 with 2 drives

I did some HDTune Benchies and am pleased with the performance

Here are the results



How much faster will short stroking make it?

And is it worth it?

Your controller is maxed out, or you have a driver issue. Either way, you're not getting the full speed out of those drives.

The curve should be smooth and continuously sloped, yours is flat across the top - controller bottleneck.

Hint: the "save" icon in HDtune gives you a screenshot of the program, instead of posting a 1920x1080 shot of your entire desktop.

No, you don't need to reinstall. Take an image of your installation to another drive, short stroke, then restore the image to the new, smaller partition. More short-stroke info below..

Need an AMD user. I know Intel can do much better, but know nothing about AMD controllers. Sorry..

Edit: do you have the drivers loaded (MB, chipset/disk controller?)

I only installed the Raid drivers during windwos installation

Are you sure the controller is the problem?

Shouldnt the Onoard Raid controller be more than capable unless im using ssds?
