Default About to upgrade my server....

I'm about to upgrade my webservers hardware. Mainly the mainboard. I use Windows Server 2003. Will I have to reinstall the OS? Can I just ghost the drive and keep on truckin'?

You'll more than likely need to re-install the OS due to such a hardware change.

I assumed as much. The hardware is going from a VIA to a nVidia chipset. P133 to DDR....other things too.

One could only hope I guess.

If it is a full-system change I would re-install the OS anyway...

i did a system upgrade for my dad and it still works fine after reinstalling drivers:
AMD 3400+ to Intel C2D E7600 @ 3.6GHz
2x512mb DDR 677 to 2 x 2GB 800MHz DDR2
430W Tt to 420W psu (came with new case)
took out a cd drive for the new pc
AMD motherboard to ASUS P5KPL-EPU
ATI Radeon 9550 sapphire to GeForce 9400GT 1GB HDMI

all of this and all i had to do was re-register windows (just a click of a button and a reboot) and reinstall (uninstall old drivers, install new ones) drivers, and it works perfectly good. went from amd to intel and the operating system works fine
so you should be fine. just backup your data in case.
