Default Question about price point.

I know this is a niche question and maybe not the place to ask it.

What would the start up cost be for a really small web hosting company, just the price for the web servers? Is it even doable for under 100k?

Depends on if you're owning the datacenter or not, or if you're buying hardware from larger companies and reselling slices on servers. If you're starting your own datacenter, no. If you're just leasing servers and selling slots for webhosting, I suppose it's doable. It all depends on the scale you operate on, and the plans\offers you give out.

There are alot of variables.

Edit: If you're starting out small scale and are leasing to a couple dozen clients, you only need a handful of mid-range servers which could run under $1000\mo. You could even buy servers across the pond from OVH or Leaseweb and get killer deals for the hardware\bandwith that you get.

Agreed as well, with the latter being the easier one in comparison; and less costly.
