Default Home Web Site Hosting, some prices

Sometimes it just takes doing something to find out just what it will cost. Here are some figures and what I think I can do to bring the amount down in the future.

Domain reg with GoDaddy $ 33.00 two years
Block of 8 static IP"s (min block) $20.00 mth 50.00setup
Easy Web (web design) $9.95 mth
CyberLink (FTP hosting) min account $14.00 mth
FTPVoyager (link to FTP Host) $60.00 2 years

Thankfully OS and Apache are free.

To save money, find way to get around static IP's for free. Write your own HTML code(or buy Dreamweaver).
Make FileZilla work somehow. I don't know if FTPVoyager or equivilent is required with FileZilla.
Find way to get free domain name registered.

The trouble with freeware is its usually worth what you paid, really there is always some trade off.

or simply by server space, a domain, and dreamweaver if you cant code.

other wise use notepad++. and wt* is easy web?

ftp? why buy an ftp client? fireftp is free for firefox. or, dont like installing anything extra? use the one built into windows. open up mycomputer - ftp://yourwebsitehere.com

that is all.

Green, did you intend to say "buy" server space not "by" server space? A little mistake like that when writing code will not cut it.

I want to stay in the game and my post was just a list of how expensive things can get if freeware or self training in certain fields is much too time consuming for you.

My goal is to get off the "buyware" and make more use of freeware, just haven't got there yet.

Easy Web is a company that provides you with web page templets that you can modify to best suit your needs.

There are not many places to go to to get good instruction in the use of freeware, online Forums are probably the best but it is pretty much a teach yourself situation.

I handle people that need help with their cars everyday (on CarTalk where I am a Top 20 Contributor) Sure people ask really dumb questions or you must explain several times but I never tell anyone they should not be driving because they don't understand how their car works.

yes meant buy, sorry about that. I personally use notepad++ to code sites, however for someone not willing to hire me, ill admit that this easyweb might be a easier solution them joomla or wordpress. i miss the day when the common person thought publisher was the best site creator out there
