PCI vs PCIe Gigbit card - Overclock.net

Im in need of another gigabit NIC for my server and i only have a PCI slot open for a card. This card will be serving my Lan. Will i see about the same speeds through a gigabit NIC on PCI vs a Gigabit NIC on PCIe?

PCIe shouldn't make anything work better than it would for PCI for a NIC.

sorry to get off topic a little, but what about for a wireless card? would pcie be better than pci or would it not make much of a difference?

Even less than a difference, since even the fastest wireless won't even come close to getting to the max bandwith of PCI.

The reason they make\sell gigabit pcie NIC's is because some people with multiple graphics cards might have too many slots covered up and need a pcie slot.
