My upstairs computer is loud as crap, sounds like a freaking plane taking off every time I start it up.
Are these any good?, my choice is between the two, and please tell me if paying 5 extra dollars a fan is worth it. SILVERSTONE FN83 80mm Case Fan or SilenX IXP-54-14 80mm Case Fan

SilentX fans generally suck in independent testing.

Well I ordered two of the Silverstone as my exhaust, and the CPU Fan, and 1 SilentX for pulling air in.

You have a cosmos, and you're using 80mm fans?

Anyone have any luck with a relatively quiet 80mm fan? I have a Coolermaster Praetorian that currently has 4 fans that probably could be upgraded to be much quieter, without sacrificing too much cooling. If I remember correctly it currently has 4x Thermaltake 80mm Thunderblades...., I suppose the name should have given me the hint that they weren't quiet.

After good experience with the 1600rpm 120mm I wouldn't hesitate trying an 80mm one ![]() |

Just bought a set of 2000 rpm 80mm Scythe Kama flex fans. While I wouldn't consider them silent, they are very quiet and offer some hefty air flow for the size.
