If you look at the ribs on the fan door for the P182 you will see that they are shaped like a capital L:
L The vertical part of this is quite restrictive to airflow and creates excess noise due to turbulence. The objective of this mod is to remove this section, resulting in: _ Now that we have our goal set, let's do it to it! The tools needed are quite simple. 1. A rotary tool with cutting wheel 2. Wire cutters 3. Pliers 4. Butane Lighter(optional, but recommended) ![]() Lets have a look at the actual door before we begin. ![]() Notice how little you can see through? We'll be changing that soon. I start off by making a cut through the vertical part of the rib from the front. ![]() Then I continue the cut from the back to minimize the chance of marring the face of the door. Cutting from the back also allows you to get all the way to the edge of the rib, making it easier to remove the excised plastic and hopefully leaving no nubs behind. If there are any, you can snap them off with the pliers. ![]() After completing the cut, snip the middle with wire cutters: ![]() Then snap the plastic off: ![]() Now the first one is done. ![]() That's the basic process. To complete the job, just lather, rinse, repeat. For fun, once you get about halfway done take the door and hold it a few inches in front of your hand, then blow through it. ![]() Notice how much more air gets through the modded part? Here we have the finished door. ![]() Stock again, as a reminder: ![]() You can use an X-Acto knife to scrape off any excess burred plastic left behind, or just a butane lighter if there's not a lot. Here's how it looks on the case: ![]() It's much less noticible without the camera flash: ![]() Now you should be enjoying a difference in airflow and noise.

Sadly, that was the macro setting.
I did what I could to get them to look better, but that's the best my camera can do close up.

just resize them to a smaller size, and they will be better quality.

Thx Stillhouse for doing that. So did you use the roatery tool to cut the actualy plastic?
And did I understand you correctly that you have to cut from the back not the front. Also I would also suggest cut the metal that is infront of the fans and only leave the wholes left to MOUNT the fan filter. That's what i did. But since you don't have carpet and you dont' worry about dust like i do you most likely keep your door open so once you cut the metal off buy two Blue LED fans and put them in front and it would look ILL
