Default Everex GPC Alternative build thread

Posted here since it's going to be quiet, and there's no sub-forum for non amd/intel platforms.

Goal to beat Everex: $199

Case: $37
C7D platform: $60

Kingston value ram 533 1GB (2x the Everex): $20

Lite-On 20X DVD burner: $23

80GB SATAII hard drive : $37

Total: $177 And most items improve upon the original Everex config.

I think a Graphics card, keyboard, mouse, speakers will bring it up to 200 but it will still be better then the Everex. I wanna build this for my cousin who is not a gamer but uses it to surf, chat, watch moves, listens to music, but for some reason she insist that she needs a c2d with atleast 2 gbs of ram. i think the most graphic intenst game she plays is hello kitty island adventure or somthing that she plays with her daughter.

It's got integrated video. The keyboard & mouse on the everex are so lame that I wouldn't even count them.

Always wanted to buy one of those VIA CPUs here in England, can never find them - it'd be perfect for an actually silent server rig.
