It seems like such a convenient move for me.. I've always wanted to get like the studio foam walls
lol.. I'm seriously considering it actually, cuz it's not just my computer that's loud: It's all the external fans and music etc. that's the problem.. my desk chair rolling all-over the place, me talking on my mic etc.. meh!![]() ![]() Deffinately gonna get some foam for the walls of my room.. Here's what i'm looking at http://www.soundprooffoam.com/soft-s...-anechoic.html Ideas?

I have an idea: You are mad!
Lol. Love it! It will dampen the acoustics, however I don't think the room will be much quieter.

That Foam will only take off perhaps the high pitch sounds. Its way to thin to cope with anything more. Bass and anyother movements will be easily heard through that.

It sounds to me like he isn't trying to do anything but make his room less acoustic. If you want to silence a room so that it can't be heard from the outside you need to get some serious work done.

Most definatey. If its to '' dumb '' things down a little then the foam should help. I just wouldnt expect anything fantastic.

LOL. Me neither. I agree with you totally. You would have to do the ceiling as well.
tbh it sounds like a waste of time and kind of stupid ![]()

I can understand what he is trying to achieve but I am not sure if it is worth it in the long run.

You'll still be able to hear through the foam even if you use layers of it. Best thing to do is build a room within your room and make sure it is decoupled. This generally costs $10K+. Barring that, you could also spray foam insulate between the walls. With just foam, you can only hope to reduce sound a bit.

I know an audiobook narrator that has a sound proof room for recording. Its really weird when you walk inside, your ears literally go mad with the silence
Its a strange sensation.I don't know if I would want my room soundproofed like that, but the idea of building a smaller sub-room sounds like a good idea. This guy just had a small room, maybe 3x2, with a few high-tech microphones in it. I could see if my dad is still in touch with him, and ask his opinions. The room is basically just wood, foam, and old carpets hanging on top of the foam.
