It would probably be coming on a lot... I don't have A/C and my house averages 25C with peaks upwards of 27C in the summer.
I have to get some zip-ties today for cable management. Then once I come home we'll see if she actually works!

Off to school!

Another suggestion of mine would be to cut some big holes in the bottom and top of your case, and then put some mesh over them. Then you could put some tall case feet on your case. This would allow your PC to cool itself passively much better. Heat will rise through the top, thus pulling in cool air through the bottom.

if you want to make it completely silent, why not pick up an 8GB or 16GB Compact Flash card and a compactflash to IDE adaptor! How weird will that be switching your PC on and hearing NOTHING!

Well she boots! Yeah I'm currently trying find ways of WIPING a hardrive but still keep it usable ... Then I need to find MoBo drivers don't I?

Right now I'm trying to use a H/D with XP installed along with drivers from another system... It starts to boot up then restarts the machine... Is that because of the other MoBo drivers conflicting with the current Mobo?

Sits 57C in BIOS...

Pictures soon!

Thanks for your interest!

I vote for a 8Gig CF > IDE for absolute silence

8GB Compact flash card -$35 (newegg)
8GB Compact flash card -$23 (ebay)
Compact Flash to IDE Converter -$6 (ebay)

Looks awesome

Nice! Thanks for the PM too
Don't give up, I'm sure you'll get the HDD working.

@Higgins
What's the max CF that you can use? What's the speed on it too?
Don't they loose data after a while?

They're probably pretty quick... And I guess they would slowly shrink in size from...

With that processor what you are trying to do is absolutely possible! You can even close up the case if you do a little bit of modding. What you'd need are vents at the top and bottom, lift your PC up off the floor about an inch (with wheels or something), and your PSU would need to be installed upside down. You'd create a sort of wind tunnel so as the hot air rises the cold air gets sucked in to replace it. Also, I know ur doing this with an old case and therefore its made of steel, but if you used a completely aluminium case it would help with the heat a bit more as well.

Oh, and make sure that if you do try this again in the future, you don't use heatsinks with a high fin density. The less space there is in between the fins the more pressure you need to get air between them, making them very inefficient for passive cooling. Just figured id let you know before you blew something up =)
