Default pft my hard drive...
traced most of the sound coming from my comp to my hard drive
it sounds like an 80 mm fan ..guessing around 25 dba
is there any way i can completely silence it?

Not really maxtor drives have always been noisey IMO. Ive had good luck with both western digital and Seagate. Although, it seems that seagate has been having issues lately.


Anyways, I think your drive is telling you its on the way out.

its not clicking alot i just sounds like a noisy fan

You could try isolating it with rubber washers so it doesn't resonate. Also, sound dampening foam might work.
