Hi friends.
__________________I'm building an HTPC for a friend. The goal was to keep it under $400, and so far everything is working great and we're happy with the machine. It is based on this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813153111 Sadly, no matter what I've tried to do, the CPU fan is constantly spinning at 4000+RPM, which is incredibly loud. I've tried 3 different CPU coolers, (2 with 4-pin connectors, 1 with 3-pin) running off of the motherboard's CPU fan and also several different System Fan connectors...all run at 100% It's not heat... BIOS and Speedfan are reporting 30c temperatures. Speedfan won't control the fan... I'm not sure what my options are at this point other than to hardwire an undervolt connection, which I'm cautious to do. Any advice? I'm not sure what my options are.

You cannot adjust it in bios either? Well a fan controller would be an option. Even a switching type over a rheostat would be an option.

Resistance is Futile

So you running a heatsink with an 80mm fan? 4000+rmp is too high and noisy. Try one with a 120mm fan. They are alot quieter than a smaller fan. Or just get a good fan controller.
