Default Question Regarding Yate Loon's

I just received a Kaze Master fan controller as a gift and currently only have antec tri-cool fans. I want to revamp my case fans for my Antec 300 and have them work with my fan controller. I've done a lot of research and have decided to go with Yate Loon. The model everyone seems to be suggesting is the D12SL-12 @ 1350 rpm and near silence.

My question being: Should I buy the 1600 rpm model (D12SM-12) for greater range of CFM and just turn it down for the silence when I want it quiet? Are the 1600 RPM models louder at lower RPMs? Anyone have experiance with these 2 models? Is the 1600 rpm model as silent as the 1350 RPM model at the same speed? Thanks!

Hi.

I don't know the answers to your specific questions, but I will say this:

When purchasing fans I gravitate toward the higher rpm models. The fans can be toned-down for sound-control, and many controllers will rob the fans of some of their potential.

Buy the medium (D12SM-12) speed fans. They will be just about as loud as your tri-cool fans on their medium setting. You could also pick up a fan controller if you wanted to tune the noise/airflow to your liking

If you have a fan controller already i would go and get some s-flex fans and tune them down to your needs.

The problem with slowing high rpm fans is that it oftentimes causes a slight ticking noise. This varies by manufacturer and I assume bearing type, but keep this in mind.

More people will chime in im sure with more detailed information.

Did you read the OP? he JUST GOT a fan controller.

As far as a recommendation, I'm with Syr on this.. I have the medium speeds, but I wish I had picked up the high speeds yates. You can always slow a fan down a bit, but you won't be able to run it for higher than it's rated very effectively.

I know you have fan controller, but I just want to throw this in here because I think it's worth it:

I recently picked up this Cooler Master blue LED fan which says it has a 110 CFM rating, and an RPM range of 800-2500. At 1815-1834 RPMs, this thing is dead silent. Anyway, here's the link to where I bought it:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/69...?tl=g36c15s518

I mean, it includes a fan controller, but as long as the Kaze Master controller you received as a gift has those 2-pin female connectors, and as long as the cables can reach the fan (for its 2-pin male connectors are like an inch long), then you're set. This fan is absolutely awesome. Even at 2500 RPM, it's really quiet. I mean, I use it in my Tuniq Tower, and it's much quieter at 2500 RPM than the plain black stock fan for the Tuniq Tower at 2000 RPM.

I even had them sleeve the fan's power cable, and that was worth it. Oh, and as for the 110.0 CFM rating, I think it's true: I tested this fan before installing it, and it definitely feels like a 110 CFM fan. I was very impressed, especially considering that it's an LED fan!

I went with the high rpm yate loon models from petra's, and they work perfectly fine on my fan controller. No tickling noises or anything and I bring em down to near silent speeds.
