I have a Zalman fan controller, with temp probes and power usage monitoring. I highly recommend it, the only downside is there are lots of extra wires to hide. But, mine holds up to 3 3-pin fans, and a PWM fan, like a CPU cooler. Also, it looks pretty nice on the case. I run them at 100% all the time though, so really I just use it as a place to plug fans into, read temps, and see that my computer was drawing almost 800 watts, lol.

Well I bought a Zalman one that can control 6 fans and it was ok for the time being, but after several "taking apart the PC sessions", I just never bothered to plug all the fan wires into it and try to hide them...IMHO no they are not worth it...

I too have used the Zalman fan controllers. Several of the 6 fan type have done me well and do facilitate keeping the fans at the minimum speed to reduce noise. Some don't like the LEDs because they are a rather bright but that can be toned down some if desired.

Fan controllers are absolutely worth it. I'm nothing but happy with my Kaze Master. Being able to run dead silent for music and movies, or full speed for heavy gaming with the turn of a few knobs can't be beat.

It allows your computer to be completely silent if you desire. For example, I put my fans off/min during the night when I am torrenting/other computer tasks that require not much.

Fan controllers are a must for me, but I demand a quiet PC unless I'm gaming. If you don't mind a little fan hum, or are willing to sacrifice noise for performance then opt against the controller.

In my case, I use a sunbeam fan controller to bring my case fans to absolute silence while I'm surfing the web or doing work, then when I put on my headset to game, I crank the fans up to keep everything as cool as possible.

Fan controllers are all about personal preference.

Hm I have a really loud CPU fan which has a controller on it, I don't mind the noise but if I cant sleep when its on I turn it down to a manageable noise level. So I think fan controllers are worth it if you have noisy fans.
