Good afternoon,

I have a Cooler Master CM690 with a full compliment of case fans (6) and to be honest, she is a lil loud.

I have been looking at fan controllers and found this one. The reviews look good but was hoping that you good people may have some thoughts.

I am restricted to 5.25" as the 3.5" bay is not accessable from the front of the case without modding.

I purchased it for a client build.

They liked it, I did not.

The touch screen didn't feel responsive enough.

Got dirty easily, and felt flimsy.

I'm personally a fan (no pun intended) of these fan controllers:

Sunbeam Rhobeous Extreme
Zalman MFC1 Plus-b
Scythe Kaze Master
Scythe Kaze Server (AKA Kaze Master II)

I know Newegg won't help you much as far as prices go, but you can look at review and such. The pictures are always nice.

Best of luck to you, if you give me a list of sites to shop from I'll search them for other options for you.

Thanks to both equetefue and Tator Tot,

Ive just had a thought, so bear with me...

I have several Zalman Fanmates laying around doing nothing. Im toying with the idea of modding these into one of the face plates on my CM 690... spruce them up with a couple of flash knobs - bingo, ghetto fan controller.

Your thoughts?

Depends on what your fans are, as the Zalman fanmate is only rated at 2amps IIRC?

Either way, you should be able to do that, I did that on a client build.

He wanted them on his desk, so I made little rubber feet for them and everything.

They work great on most fans.

If you have 3 I'd do 2 fans per one.

1 for the side pannel & back fan, 1 for the top 2 fans, 1 for the front 2 fans.

The NZXT fan controller is all about bling and it looks really cool, I attached three Scythe Ultra Kaze fans (3000 RPM) and it doesn't work right with them at all. The temperature sensors are quite a joke in my opinion as well, you are best off going for a sunbeam rheobus or such. Of course this is just my opinion but I do own both and they are currently installed and being used in my system. The downside of the Sunbeam Rheobus is the brightness of the LED's but that can be fixed with some minor modding.

im a fan of the sunbeam rheobus. knobs feel very solid and very easy to mod a spare 5.25 bay cover onto to give it that really clean look.
