Default Hide the computer?

Hi, would this solution work?

To keep noises low, could I hide my computer in my walk-in closet, and run long cables through? Instead of spending a fortune on high-performance low-noise fans and stuff, and getting an expensive VGA cooler, why not just move it far away from yourself?

Sure except heat will eventually build up in that closet and temps may become an issue unless you can find a way to vent the closet properly.

The closet... its about 5ft by 8ft. I could open the door, but that defeats the purpose...

Actually I don't have it yet and I don't mind the noise but it could be an option since I heard that 10 fans + overclocked Radeon 4890 = jet engine.

i really think its a mater of personal preference, whats a jet engine to some is tolerable to others. And there is always a way to get the noise down to your liking

that HDD noise can be fixed fairly cheaply

Heres a great post. For HDD only silencing cheap out the uber cheap rubber band mod @ step 6
http://www.overclock.net/computer-pe...-computer.html

You can silence a case for pretty cheap if you get a little creative.

In some situations, this is wise... but only when the place you hide it has adequate ventilation which your walk in closet does not. IMO, a $15 Sunbeam Rheobus + $30 GPU cooler is probably going to be more effective and probably won't be much more than what you'd end up paying for in cables (10ft DVI extenders are ~$25+shipping)

There's also the option of going all out with cooling and just buying a good set of closed headphones

Hehe. At night I am watching anime on my iPod (Shhh, don't tell anyone!) or listening to music, so I won't hear a thing. I could hide it in the closet at day time, and then open the doors at night or when I am not in the house.
