Default how to silence phenom x2 550 heatsink fan?

right now im running the stock AMD heatsink/fan, and i want to know what aftermarket one i should look at to reduce the noise, my case fans are almost perfectly silence, probobly about 90% of my PC's current 'noise' is from the CPU, and id like to quiet it down, any suggestions?

1. Scythe Big Shuriken for Uber low noise but low performance (no overclock).
2. Scythe Mugen 2 for low cost, high performance and low noise.
3. Some sound proofing mats for entirely reducing your PC noise.
4. Reducing the RPM of your stock heat-sink fan by means of a fan controller of BIOS/software settings.

For totally passive cooler, but huge size http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cp...00_detail.html is sick, but its huge.....really really huge. I saw them at microcenter decently cheap.

Uses same mounting system. Just make sure you get one for a AM2/3. And you don't need a $60 cooler if your not overclocking. An Artic Cooling hsf will do you just fine.

The 550 is only 95watts so it doesn't generate a lot of heat. This unit handles up to 125 watts and is very quiet. I have one in my wife's PC.

Any passive high performance tower cooler such as a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 with light airflow in the case with do.

Edit: your case and all yours fans on low will cool as passive tower easy.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185093

Run it passive.
