Bill Gates strikes me as a go getter. When he wants something he goes out and gets it. If sometime in the future he decided to the president, more power to him. He just might do a really good job.

I don't think this thread should have had anything to do with rather or not we feel Bush is a good president. What would you think about Bill Gates being president. That is all the thread is asking. Edit: This is Rick's what would you think of Bill Gates as president. I've read through his post and these replies isn't what he was looking for.

This isn't the place for Political discussion, not to mention bashing politicians, and taking a thread off topic. Rather than deleting the whole thread, I deleted 50+ posts

Well he DOES have knowledge of running a complex macroeconomic system......his company. Whether or not that he is capable of handling many of the tasks that the prez entails, that's another story. I mean, we have had some colorful people in the white house, JFK, Ronald Reagan. He also is a very compassionate person, as his philanthropy organization for supporting technology education in inner cities and less fortunate communities is one of the largest in the country, if not the world. So yea, I would say that he may be a good idea. I probably wouldn't vote for him until he got his feet wet in politics, as a senator or representative: you don't just jump straight into the presidency.
__________________BTW JFK and Ronald Reagen are colorful for two COMPLETELY different reasons LOL: JFK was a sex hound and Ronald Reagen was an actor before president.

LOL.. major of a SMALL town? I think CEO/Chairman of MS is a lot harder than major of a small town.... he probably can do that part time, spending no more than 1 hour per day.

Whether we have the best government and legal system, I think there is definately room for improvement. For example, it's a bit odd that in one of the most powerful institutions of our government (the Senate), representation is definately NOT equal. A state with only a couple of hundred thousand inhabitants (Alaska, Hawaii, etc) has equal power as one with millions (California, Texas, New York, etc). If that's not odd, then I don't know what is. Not to mention the method of electing the president.... How can it happen that someone who does NOT earn the majority of the votes is elected? Legal system? Definately room for improvement.

Yea I guess so.......it makes me so sick, I am proud of my country, whether or not I disagree with the current prez's decisions or not, it is still your country.....I wish some of these SUV burners would either stop bashing their country or go to Mexico and see how much they like it there LMAO (not ponting fingers to anyone in specific, so please do not take offense!)

Do note in regards to my previous post that I am not US-born. I am a Dutch national, and a US permanent resident of just over 7 years now.
I've first hand experienced both systems, and yes, both have flaws and both have advantages. Generally, I do like living here in the US. Criticism will always happen. Some just, some unjust. Believe me, if no one would criticize, something is VERY wrong! Being proud of your country is a good thing. I hope, however, that you can see if and when something goes wrong, and definately, you'd have to agree not all is well right now.

On the Bill Gates note, I don't get why so many PC-savvy people like to bash him and Microsoft, I mean one of the very sole reasons that we are even able to use PCs that are so advanced in our homes is because of the origincal code that he developed (basic? Visual Basic? I dunno) which allowed for easy adaptation to a graphical user interface....blah blah blah Bill Gates deserves respek! (I love Ali G)
