The signifigance behind this little number is not the actual number itself. 90% of the diggers who rallied behind this number will never actually use it.

It's the fact that Digg, acting out of fear from the MPAA and HD-DVD began censoring people. If they HADN'T censored people or tried to clamp down on them like the Chinese Communist Party on dissidents, it would not have been a big deal.

So when the main story got taken down (with +10,000 hits) and the secondary stories about the mainstory getting taken down started popping up everywhere and digg continued to bannimate people... well.

THIS. IS. DIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Also, the code is not 'useless' as JohnRogers put it. Load up Linux and MythTV with an HD-DVD drive and apparently it'll work with some tweaks.

What I don't understand is, why people "Riot" on the site? If the site pisses you off, and you just keep going back to the site the owners just make more money. If you write threads about it and have more and more people go to the page you're basically advertising for the people that have just pissed you off.

More the story gets around the more people are exposed to Digg .: More unique visits the website gets per day .: More money for Digg and their advertisers .: It doesn't really matter if they censor anything at all?

But yeah... the MPAA are fascist bastards.

The pres. of digg said they wont deleting the news and banning users since they "rather go down" that way instead of losing all their users.
