Ram defraggers are nasty little apps. It takes all the RAM it can thats not being utilized at that time and returns it to the free pool. Its bad news as when a process needs the RAM it has to go all the way back to the free pool to get it which slows everything down...just restart your PC man.

do ram defragmentors make any sense anyways? the whole reason you defrag is because the random access time on a hdd is kinda high so it uses up alot of time seeking for the second half of the file. Ram on the other hand IS random access memory, so it has no random access time which means your not loosing any time by it going to another part of your ram to get another part of the file.

The apparent use of ram defraggers was to gather any random un-utilized memory and put it back into the free pool

i just discovered scheduled tasks in xp and then downloaded this script(second one):http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scri...defrag_all.htm
so i just set it to defrag automatically using the script evry 3 weeks -BAM no more worrying about defragging.
