It's not the money that's the issue here. The RIAA's tactics are to sue a few thousand people. If it looks like it won't stick, they immediately get the case dismissed with(?) prejudice, meaning that they didn't lose. It also means that the wrongfully accused cannot collect attorney fees and just has to take the hit. This is the first time somebody has collected money from the RIAA for being falsely sued

Now that someone has slapped them back and succeed in doing so many more will follow suit. The RIAA is probably expecting this to be common practice whenever they try to sue someone. It might not have been a huge suit but maybe it had it's intended affect.

Sure its about the money, the whole RIAA thing is about money. Until the amount of money the RIAA has to payout becomes a problem they will continue with their tactics. Even with this case setting a precedence for others, there is still appeals which the RIAA will more than likely pursue. Even if they fail to win appeals, they know now what they can get away with and what the cant, so they change their tactic slightly and continue on.
