Windows update requires only 1 reboot and only on certain kinds of updates. Windows updater works quite well now that it isn't run through Internet Explorer.

Windows Vista does not "require" a reboot to apply ANY update all this talk of forced reboots is just that talk based on ignorance of the workings your own OS. If one has the appropriate privileges i.e. Administrator you can choose when to apply said updates regardless of what they are.

The only thing that differs from XP is again you must have Admin. privileges to exercise this option.

If your using the term "reboot required" in the sense that the update will not be properly applied until the computer is restarted then Vista is no different from XP at all in this regard.

My guess is that these people will find a work-around, you can rely on it.

The developers are too smart, the product is too effective, too popular and there is also a very intense level of committment to the effort for them to just quit. It fills too significant of a need too well to just "disappear".

EDIT ***

(Brainwave)

Think it's possible to recieve Windows Updates via (anonymous) P2P ?

With XP SP2 downloading all the updates available only requires 1 reboot. IF you have already got the first client files for the Windows Update Website, which you don't need if you use the Automatic Updates.
