This point is one of the ones that upsets me the most. This exact situation has happened with EVERY release of windows, and many releases of MacOS for that matter. Most large companies do not adopt a new OS almost until midway or even most of the way through its lifespan. We did not switch to XP at work until about two years ago, because we were waiting for a stable version of our manufacturing and inventory databasing system to be released and supported. Not counting the costs of hardware and liscensing it cost us about $50,000 in software to switch from 2k to XP, and the same will happen with Vista.

This method of doing things is not a surprise to me, nor to any large companies, why is it a surprise to everyone else?

I see a lot of peoples complaint that the new CPU's, GPU & Games take to long to come out. What is the deal with Vista? Either you want the new OS or you don't.

Yes Vista is a good OS, if you don't mind the incompatibility with lots of hardware, its leeching GUI, having to readjust to all the settings locations, and you want to play like one of the 5-10 DX10 games out there. The only positive thing that can come of it is its GUI (the cool design part not the leeching power part), which you can already mod XP to look really close to Vista and only use about 25% of what Vista's GUI uses.
On the other hand, pat on the back to M$ (there's always a first) for letting people downgrade!
