Well, you can always at least try it. The way some of our IT guys in the city are, it may just need a simple fix. They may have just decided to use the Corporate copy of XP instead of trying to fix the problem.

Totally agree. Thank you.

Ick, XP Lite. No...I use a custom made Lite XP.

Hmm...never had one of those happen either. The only really annoying issue I've stumbled across, is Win2k turns the screen 100% black if you hibernate with a game running.

But no lockups, or anything. Lockups are probably driver related.

We did not switch to XP at work until about two years ago, because we were waiting for a stable version of our manufacturing and inventory databasing system to be released and supported. Not counting the costs of hardware and liscensing it cost us about $50,000 in software to switch from 2k to XP, and the same will happen with Vista.

This method of doing things is not a surprise to me, nor to any large companies, why is it a surprise to everyone else?
It's annoying when a company flips to Java, to prevent it happening, and then Microsoft somehow breaks compatability anyway. If a java app works on XP, Win2k, Win9x, Linux, OSX, you'd think it'd be simple to restore Vista compatability, yes? Something a single update would solve?

People are saying that we didn't have these problems at the switch to Vista. I remember a LOT of hub-bub though about XP SP2. Don't you remember all the compatibility hoopla with that? After a while though it got better though and things blew over. Hopefully the same thing will happen with Vista compatability issues...maybe it won't though. I don't know.

I see a lot of peoples complaint that the new CPU's, GPU & Games take to long to come out. What is the deal with Vista? Either you want the new OS or you don't.

3. People need to get over the fear of change and move on.
1. I would get the 63' mustang over the 2008 one.

2. Well you got the new model because ford doesn't sell 63' new (if they do not alot). And if ford lets you get the 63' over the 2008 than sure!. I love the old looks

Good luck getting a 63 Mustang given the fact that the Mustang didn't hit the production line till mid year 1964.

If you found a 63 Mustang you would indeed have a one of a kind though.

Yes Vista is a good OS, if you don't mind the incompatibility with lots of hardware, its leeching GUI, having to readjust to all the settings locations, and you want to play like one of the 5-10 DX10 games out there. The only positive thing that can come of it is its GUI (the cool design part not the leeching power part), which you can already mod XP to look really close to Vista and only use about 25% of what Vista's GUI uses.
On the other hand, pat on the back to M$ (there's always a first) for letting people downgrade!

All those extra frames do is create screen tearing. 4) FireGL and Quadro GPUs are for workstations running AutoCAD and that's why they cost so much. 5) Empty RAM is a bad thing. You want your programs and games utilizing everything they can.

I can still remember having to upgrade to "95" just to be able to play Duke Nukem 3-D... now I will eventually have to upgrade to Vista when my next must play game is DX10 (oh, crud... still need a new Gfx card too)...

As much as this sucks, it is the way it is... in the mean time I save up for the inevitable It is a good thing I'm not prone to depression or I won't be able to survive this most horrible predicament... woe is me ...
