I really wish people would take the time to understand the cell phone industry and how it works. There are so many different types of technology in the USA that providers use. UMTS, CDMA, GSM, TSM, TDMA...and others. The problem here is the markets make it so that it's almost impossible to make phones that are universal, and the ones that do work on GSM networks(ie. T-Mobile, but not AT&t, it uses TDMA, a GSM hybrid that doesn't work near as well as true GSM) are locked due to the contract system. The iPhone is different in the fact that you don't get a price discount for going 2 year contract, but it's and exclusive liscense between Apple and AT&T. Yes, I know, it's an angreement made so they both make lots of money and keep other companies from selling the iPhone, but business are there to make money. So, just try to understand how messed up the industry is before you complain about not getting the phone you want for your specific provider. We all wish we lived in Europe and everything was GSM and we all had unlocked phones straight from the retailer.

Well my iPhone is still running good after the update last night.

Apple and AT&T made a deal, get over it... I'm actually suprised apple or AT&T isnt sueing someone for cracking the iPhone like that.

I wasn't calling you a moron.......not really sure where you got that from. I'm speaking in generalities. IMO if someone buys an iPhone, and mods it to run on another network....then ruins it with an update, then they are a moron. Simply my opinion. This doesn't mean I have a closed mind.

Nobody is going to sue Apple. People should know that Apple has a team of lawyers that write up their end user agreements.....so they have covered their arses.

They have NO reason to support your hacked hardware...

Its AT&T paying Apple to do this. From a moral standpoint, this isn't very good. From a business standpoint, hey, they're making money. Plus people with bricked iPhones can't whine, they knew this would happen if they updated their unlocked iPhone.
