They need to accept they can't win a case where everyone in the US (including the judge
) has broken the law unknowingly as well as corporations aiding in breaking it.

Well if it's illegal, then the RIAA shouldn't sue the people ripping the CDs. They should sue the people making the software that allows for the ripping of CDs... i.e. Microsoft, Apple, AOL (winamp), etc.

The problem that I have with the whole system is the assumption that I am purchasing a transfer medium when I buy a CD - but not the intellectual property on it. The purchase of a CD should include rights for me to access the content on it.
If they want to protect the content with encryption, then fine. That would be a horrendously unpopular move, but if they want to lock up the content then they have the right to protect that lock by the law. In the meantime though, they've not locked the content and thus we *should* be able to use as we please. (If you buy a CD, you should have limited rights to the intellectual property on it. You should be able to do anything for your purposes with it. That does not include spreading it for free over the web or bootlegging)

Ummm... I don't remember agreeing to any EULA when I purchased my CD's YEARS ago.
In fact, I don't like the new copyright BS. So, I think I want the RIAA to refund my money for all my CD's. And I want it refunded NOW! Take your crap and shove it!
