They were paid millions and millions of dollars to switch blu-ray only, unless the people who want HD-DVD saved can come up with no less than a billion dollars its not really gonna do much. Money > Petitions.
Theyre probably under a contract and they can't just break that contract because of a online petition, even if millions signed it. A contract is a contract, they were given X ammount of money to be blu-ray only, if they switch back to HD-DVD they'd break the contract and be sued for millions. Quote:

You all knew the risks of buying either format, no need to cry about it if the one you bought looses. (basically what this petition is doing).

If I had a $0.01 for every person that signed a FFVII remake partition I would have billions. BILLIONS!
And has it come yet? No. So if you get a petition signed by over several billion people - it ain't going to make any difference at all.
