Which would cause it to fail without a huge marketshare, which AMD does not have. Web coders have to work around IE's quirks to get pages to render correctly. If a minor browser tried to do the same thing, nobody would code around it, pages would display incorrectly, and nobody would use the browse

Yes, but it (as confirmed above) uses IE to render the pages. That is the problem.

AMD isn't doing that badly.

The 3850 and 3870/3870x2 are competitive with the most popular NVIDIA devices both on price and effectiveness, although they are engineered for, well, engineering, rather than gaming. Meanwhile, NVidia's 9-series increasingly appears to be rebadged and possibly upclocked 8-Series parts. So overclock your 8800GTS and you have a processor as good as anything NVIDIA will release in 2008.

Actually it is quite possible that Ati will be the dominant GFX provider in the near future. Oddly enough, they seem to be the technology leader in the GPU market just as Intel is ahead in the CPU market (note GDDR3-4 adoption, for instance).

It is disappointing that AMD is so far behind in the CPU war, but the company has good technology everywhere but in chip fabrication...

Indeed. I'm running Hardy, and they just added it to the Repos. Nice stuff, my only problem is all-in-one-sidebar is not working for it yet :/. One of my favorite plugins. Still. Interestingly they made the switch to using the form object from the OS's display toolkit it seems. Feels more native and integrated.

The thing that I love so much abot FF3 is that when you zoom with Ctrl+mouse wheel it zooms pics and text, not just text. This is the first browser I've seen do this.
