They do loose money, because if people are pirating the games then they do not buy it from the stores. Which then in return do not buy more games from the distributers, which means that the devs dont make as much money as they would, in order to restock.

So yes, money is lost in the process. Whether its the dev's, the distributer's, or the vendor's.... it doesnt matter.

Anyways - I still say all game devs either go STEAM's way, EA's way, or no way at all.

I've had a solid opinion all along, that your only response to has been nasty posts and cheap insults. My jabs were originally directed at the pirate populace as a whole, which you then decided to include yourself in.

You took offense to blanket statements that I made, accused me of trolling for stating my opinion, and then began badgering me with insults. This is pure bicker.

Now, if you came in and worked 20 hrs and your work only paid you for 10 hrs, under your very own analogy you've still made money so it's all good that your job shorts you on purpose. However, you are still owed due to your hard work and time. Same thing with software developers. Just cause people don't physically see the money being spent in the form of cd's, instruction booklets and other stuff doesn't mean that there isn't considerable investment, time and resources being used to create a game you just stole.

Stealing is stealing. If you've illegally obtained a copy, it's stealing. period.

A plumber, in your example, entered an agreement with me and only me explicitly before I take his service. A game developer makes a game and hopes people like it. Their time was not spent on ME, and I never agreed before the fact that I would purchase their product.

I don't know what 'steeling' from something is. If you meant to say 'steal', then you are once again putting words in my mouth. It isn't stealing.

Edit: Funkdrspot: His second analogy was actually understandable. If he works 20 hours when he could have worked 25, he didn't lose 5 hours of pay, he just didn't get it. It's opportunity cost. Read my previous posts for more.

don't group pirates as a whole. I've said it and some other people here have as well.

I don't want to spend $50 on a game that doesn't work or just flat out sucks.

I don't have to justify myself because someone tries to assume they know my reasoning or lack of

I get paid for what I do, I don't expect to be paid more. Devs make many times more than what they spend to create a game. They spend 15-25 million to make the game, and sell 8-10 million copies each costing $50.00. Last time I checked, that is a lot more money than what they spent. If they break even, is anyone really hurt?
