5941 torrents in subcategory "PS 2"
22294 torrents in subcategory "Windows"
Where are you getting this info from?? The PS2 needs a modchip to play burnt games just like every other console. There are various other ways around it as well, but it all involves a LOT more research than downloading a crack for a PC game. If you could just burn games and play them on a PS2 there would be a lot more downloads for it I can promise that

Where am I getting this info? From personal experience. All you need to boot a backup on a PS2 is a PS1 game, a memory card, and some software. It auto boots right to HD Loader where you can pick from as many ISOs as will fit on your HDD.

But, you are right that even this is too complicated for some people. All you have to do is read the comments on any pirated game to figure that out...

"I burned the .rar file, but it won't boot! This thing doesn't work!"

"Why can't I play online? This serial doesn't work!"

"The sound doesn't play in this movie. Good job to the idiot who uploaded it!"

They always make me chuckle =)

Dubios figures.

1. Leechers leech for longer than a single day (obviously with large file sizes). I seriously doubt there are that many new leechers everyday.
2. Mininova is pretty much the most popular torrent site for game downloads. To refer to it as "a single site" is like saying there's loads of other sites with the same activity when most sites will get nowhere near.

Are you referring to my post? Those numbers are not seeders or leechers, they are the total number of torrents in each category. Ugh Mininova... God, do I miss Demonoid!

No I was referring to the OP. The sentence in the article, "monitoring the number of leechers on each for a single day" is woolly. To me it sounds like they looked at the amount of leechers on that day and took it for fact and were implying these downloads get that many new leechers every single day. That would be unreliable because as I said, I imagine it'd take longer than a day to download large games.

most of those illegal DL's are ppl just trying the game out. since its nearly impossible to play a copy online, unless u play hacked-ass servers, most will go out and buy it once they try it. and that doesnt account for all the downloaded bad copies as well.

Actually they aren't losing a sale because you stated yourself that you weren't going to buy it in the first place so therefore there was no potential sale and thats what the majority of the pirates are doing when they download these games.
